Sustainability at Commerz RealESG has to be a Team effort

ESG goes to the next level...

We take responsibility. The upcoming challenges of coping with the climate crisis are facing huge upheavals in all industries and related infrastructures. As asset managers for real estate and renewables, we want to actively help shape this change! For this ambitious project, we have defined clear goals in our sustainability strategy for all three dimensions: environment (E), social responsibility (S) and good corporate governance (G). Our responsibilities: to find real and sustainable solutions to the current issues. What is our goal? Climate-conscious, human and transparent - creating long-term value that lasts for generations.

Our ESG framework

The ESG framework serves as a guideline for our pursuit of sustainability and specifies our measures and indicators that commit us to implementing our vision. We present how our sustainability strategy reflects the complex, fragile and valuable worlds of life in which we live together, work together and stay together.

Our scopes and objectives - Achieving zero together

Our sustainability strategy is divided into environmental (E), social (S) and corporate governance (G) impact areas. Each of these dimensions is of equal importance to us at Commerz Real. That’s why we have also defined a smart target for each individual and KPIs accordingly. Find out here what the three letters mean in the Commerz Real context, what we are already doing and where we want to go with them.

ESG has to be climate-conscious!

We are clearly committed to the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda. That’s why we’re driving the transformation to more sustainability and pushing for a reduction in our greenhouse gas emissions to achieve one of our big goals: Net Zero operations by 2040 and a climate-neutral supplier portfolio. The basis is a greenhouse gas balance in accordance with the Green House Gas Protocol, which we have been preparing annually since 2021.

ESG has to be compassionate!

The transformation towards environmental sustainability must not come at the cost of social aspects. That’s why we always want to ensure that the society in which we work and live is socially sustainable. Our focus is on measurable indicators that include employees and external stakeholders as well as the workplace and community dimensions.

ESG has to be transparent.

Governance stands for the third dimension of ESG and includes the practice of good corporate governance. These include topics such as anchoring sustainability in the corporate structure, acting morally impeccably and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. We have had our progress measured annually by an externally renowned ESG rating since 2024.
