Careers Systemic coaching for managers

14.03.2023 5 Reading Time

Since 2021, Commerz Real has been holding the training course “Coaching as a management tool”. Since then, managers and board members have regularly been introduced to the topic and informed about how coaching measures can help manage a team and unlock potential.

Systemic thinking

The People and Culture team is constantly looking for ways to actively support the managers of Commerz Real in their further development. With the training course “Coaching as a management tool”, the department has developed a systemic coaching program to sustainably strengthen the relationship between managers and their employees.

This involves more than just management of employees: the aim of the program is to show leaders how to meet their employees on an individual level, promote team communication and systematically address problems. They also learn to recognise the strengths of their individual team members and integrate them more closely into their daily work.

The programme was launched in 2021. Since then, not only numerous managers, but also members of the Management Board have successfully completed the program and brought new impetus to their teams and departments.
Our training program provides our managers with a great tool to find the right employees and develop them as appropriate to be strong for the future.

Focus on the team

Leading a team in a constructive and targeted manner is undoubtedly one of the most important tasks of a manager. However, this requires more than just specialist knowledge as interpersonal skills and communication skills are essential for a successful manager. If individual employees feel heard and supported, their motivation also increases. This not only ensures a noticeably better working atmosphere and greater satisfaction, but also better results.

That’s why the Commerz Real training program teaches managers how to put more focus on their employees and their individual skills and needs. They learn to ask new questions, adopt different perspectives and respond individually to the members of their team.

This approach is then also reflected in everyday work processes: managers play back decision-making questions to the team, enabling their employees to make decisions independently and actively contribute their skills to the process. In this way, a managed department becomes a team with self-efficacy that knows and can communicate not only its strengths, but also its weaknesses.

The initiative is already showing great potential and is ensuring a more individual, personal and interpersonal relationship between managers and their employees. That’s why the systemic coaching approach is now a key management tool at Commerz Real.
