Commerz Real AG has acquired two ready-to-build solar parks in Sweden for its klimaVest fund: Wing Fields and Gas Light. The planned total capacity of the two plants in southern Sweden is around 90 megawatt-peak (MWp).

At the end of 2022, Commerz Real had secured the rights to purchase a total of five solar projects with over 270 MWp. With Wing Fields and Gas Light, the first two projects from this series have now reached construction maturity and have been fully acquired for klimaVest.

We identified Sweden early on as an attractive location for portfolio diversification. Linked primarily to wind and hydro power, Sweden also offers attractive conditions for photovoltaics, especially the sunny south of the country.
Timo Werner
klimaVest fund manager

In addition to Sweden, klimaVest is invested in solar and wind farms in Germany, Finland, France and Spain.

The developer and seller of the two projects is Swedish Helios Nordic Energy. The local business partner will continue to be involved, initially taking over construction management and, after commissioning of the plants, technical and commercial operations management. The Wing Fields project has a planned rated output of 49.4 MWp. It is located in the province of Södermanland, about 100 kilometres south of Stockholm.  The Gas Light project is located near Gothenburg and has a planned rated capacity of 39.2 MWp.

The two projects continue the successful collaboration with Helios. Last year, the Kings Roar solar power plant in Sweden was already successfully in operation with a rated output of around 22 MWp. Kings Roar had acquired Commerz Real for another fund.
