Once a year, swap your desk and laptop for brushes and cordless screwdrivers - this special experience is offered by our Commerz Real Social Day. We are joining forces to support various social projects and institutions.

This year, around 100 committed colleagues took an active part at our two main locations in Wiesbaden and Düsseldorf. As part of our strategic district partnerships in Wiesbaden Erbenheim and Düsseldorf Flingern-Süd, both districts with high social needs, we have renovated, built and worked together to give something back to the local people.

Social Day in Wiesbaden - everything for the littlest ones

At Justus von Liebig Primary School in Wiesbaden Erbenheim, we have made sure that students and teachers feel comfortable in their living rooms again. On 24 September 2024, 40 colleagues diligently painted walls and redesigned rooms such as the parents’ meeting room, the “anger” room and the teacher’s room. The drills and cordless screwdrivers were also running at full speed, as many new pieces of furniture were built. It was a fulfilling day full of valuable impressions that not only left behind beautiful memories, but also made a real difference.

Social Day in Düsseldorf - creating encounters together

For the second time, we actively supported the diacony in Flingern-Süd as part of our Social Day. First equipment for babies and new mothers was packed in jute bags, raised beds were built and planted, and the reading container was painted and equipped with new furniture and school supplies. In addition, a barrier-free route to the container was created.

Despite the rain, the hearts stayed sunny, not least thanks to our great service team, who made a great mood with good spirits and fun. The day ended with a cosy lunch with the neighbourhood’s residents - including burritos and good conversations.

She is interested in what the people we support with such projects work for every day and what they struggle with? Then read our interview with Constanze Jestaedt-Fischer, who told us about herself and her work in the Düsseldorf Flingern-Süd district.

Partnerships, such as with Commerz Real, give us a whole new freedom.
