with our specially developed com.work concept, we at Commerz Real are paving our own way when it comes to designing contemporary and modern workplaces. The focus is on flexibility, sustainability and efficiency, which makes Commerz Real more than just a workplace.
The com.work project
As an asset manager, Commerz Real aims to design sustainable tangible assets that create added value for its investors in the long term as far as possible. To achieve this goal, however, it is not only the tangible assets that need to be right, but also the team – and the conditions under which the team works.
The opening of DigitalWerk in 2018 provided us with the optimum test area for the first time to implement new concepts of work design in practice. The project was launched under the name com.work and includes numerous measures to develop an individual and pleasant working environment for our employees. These measures can be broken down into four different themes:

From theory to practice
With our com.work project, we have developed a comprehensive and versatile approach on paper that adapts our everyday work to modern demands and needs and offers individual opportunities for our entire team. This is how we put the concept into practice:
Flexibility & mobility: Since the coronavirus pandemic, flexible working models have once again significantly increased in importance. That’s why our employees have the opportunity to work up to 50% of their weekly working hours from home.
The working hours spent on site in the DigitalWerk can also be flexibly structured to meet individual requirements. Instead of permanently assigned offices, there is the option of working in open-plan offices or retreating into individual offices and separate com.office spaces. This ensures that our team remains mobile and flexible – entirely according to individual needs.
Digitalisation & innovation: To be able to offer our employees the desired flexibility, we provide modern software and hardware. This includes an individual set consisting of a mouse, headset and keyboard as well as large curved monitors at each office workplace.
Digitalised communication and work processes are also part of everyday office life at Commerz Real. This keeps the entire team flexible and optimally equipped for changing workplaces.
Networking & collaboration: The more dispersed our employees are in their work locations, the more important it is to maintain and strengthen cohesion. The office spaces in our DigitalWerk also serve this purpose. This is where our team comes together and develops new approaches and ideas in non-virtual meetings.
The personal exchange helps to give new impetus to the collaboration and to develop concepts that purposefully drive Commerz Real forward.
Sustainability & efficiency: Sustainability plays a decisive role in the future-oriented development of a team and a company. That’s why Commerz Real’s locations are designed to save as much energy as possible.
To protect the environment, we focus on low energy and electricity consumption and on green spaces in our offices and workspaces.
